trying to hang christmas lights (2 weeks later than usual) and it's 69 muggy degrees out. not helping the spirit right now.

carol is retiring at the end of dec. i've been in her group off and on for 7 yrs. don't trust anyone else so i'll be starting a different program after she leaves. actually it starts dec 1 but it's only one day a week for 2.5 hrs.

she's been so happy the last 6 months or so. she finally told us (after i ran into them at waffle house 2 weeks ago) she hooked up with T in may. he's a former patient. been out of the program for a few yrs now. ( and they said k and i weren't allowed to get close as friends) i'm happy for both of them. they look good together : ) we won't worry about her so much now. she's been working as a nurse for 35 yrs.

a few of us who've been with her for a long time will keep in touch, visit etc.

gonna miss her. don't want her to go but people come and go in life. i'll deal with it.

lots of wind and rain but no hurricane. roads flooded, house rocked alot. neighbor brought me back from moving the car to higher ground. waiting for her to come get me to retrieve it. a truck would've made it a lot easier. wouldn't have had to move it. oh well......

ida is on the way. a cat 2 storm right now. the harbor in pass christian is under a mandatory evacuation. people have moved their boats and cars to higher round around here. i of course have no where to go and no money to get there anyhow.

so.... i've emptied the car, taken down all the wind chimes and other possible flying projectiles. doing a load of laundry while i have water. have 4 gallon jugs of water for drinking. tuna and a few other canned things ready to eat. the cats have more than enough to last a week.

supposed to take the car in to get the front end repaired where the guy ran a 4-way stop and hit me thursday but i can't have a rental car here if it floods like they're expecting. of course if i floods like that, there's no where i can take the car that it won't get flooded. if that happens, i'm lettin this place go into foreclosure and moving back to town or back to pensacola.

wednesday, on the way home from the VA, a guy in a suburban ran a 4-way stop and hit my toyota camry on the passenger side front fender/wheel. no one was injured and i have to believe that this was meant to keep me from something much worse that day.

i had the right of way but insurance says there's no way to prove who had it by where he hit me so it will probably be a 50/50 claim. we both have state farm so they'll pay themselves. i have a $500 deductible. yippee. this is the same front bumper i had fixed a few months ago. they really need to just total it and get it over with. of course that wont happen. book on it is something like 9k. fixing it cost 3200 last time. gonna be more now. bumper alone is 15k. i getting a truck next time. no more cars for me.

first they tried eating away the weather stripping around the front door. now they're tearing up the screen on the front porch window. so i guess i remove that today.

went to pensacola, stayed the night on a whim and came home to find the trash all over the kitchen floor, coffee cup smashed on the floor, foot prints in jelly cuz they finished off the jar i left on the counter.....closed i might add..... because i left the cat door unblocked.

guess it's time to pay someone to come out and trap them. i really don't want to but it's costing me too much to have them around. most people out here just shoot them but since i don't have a gun.... and wouldn't do it anyway....

poor kitties are gonna have to be either in or out whenever i leave now :(
oh yeah. and this came wandering thru the other day...

came home today to find the front lawn mowed :-)

someone named david did it and left a note saying i know you didn't ask me to but i mowed the front lawn. i'd be happy to mow it for you every 2 weeks. i also weed eat. i can be reached at.....

don't know if it's kid (the handwriting looks like it) or not but i'm gonna call him tomorrow. if he's not too expensive, he's hired. even if he did cut down my elephant ears.

well, it's all over but the shoutin'. unless they reject my storage unit claim, i am officially bankrupt.

of course if by some miracle they choose to give me the buyout, i have to get permission from the court to take it. : /

now i just have to take the $50 post-bankruptcy course. yeah.

how nice. my mortgage has blocked my account so i can't make on-line payments because of the bankruptcy even tho i've never missed a payment.

and just for grins, my direct deposit is in limbo-land. didn't go into the new account and couldn't go in the old one cuz it's closed.

so i can't make the mortgage payment anyway.....

met this woman named kathy at the waffle house a few months ago. she sat down and started talking to me out of nowhere. haven't seen her since.

last week she showed up disappointed that i was leaving as she came in. watched me walk to the car and leave. said she always there on sundays. (she's not).

wasn't there today. didn't really expect her to be but was kinda disappointed anyway. hmmmm

tomorrow is the 4 year anniversary of katrina. sometimes it feels like yesterday and other times it seems a lifetime ago. not sure if i'll go to any of the events planned. guess i'll decide tomorrow

yesterday when i went out to check the mail i heard loud crying. followed it and found a little kitten wandering in the ditch up from the house. cute little calico thing. no more than 6 weeks old if that. stuck her in my shirt and took her to the vet because i didn't want to take her to the shelter cuz it's so nasty.

they said she could stay there and if nothing else there's a lady who runs a cat shelter she can go to. i'm wondering if someone dropped her off because most people around here know i take in most of the strays.

wish i'd taken a picture of her :-/

poor baby. he was so groggy when he got home but he still tried to find his way outside. didn't make it of course. but it was kinda funny to watch his butt go one way while his front went the other.

he ran from me every time i got near him but yesterday he got in my lap and last night slept with me so he's definitely feeling better today. one paw still a little tender but otherwise seems pretty good.

now if i could just get him to take his medicine :-/

just dropped timmy off at the vet. he came in this morning with his eye all scratched up and the side of his mouth didn't look much better. i put some antibiotic creme on it and he went to sleep in the window.

i poured some food for brodie and timmy came in limping. soooo..... he's at the vet. shots, tests, and removal of his little harballs.

they'll call me when he wakes up or if the fhiv test comes back pos. so now we just wait. brodie's waiting in the attic.

Home for Sale

Karen called me this morning. Someone wants to see the house. They did a drive by around 11am. Of course the lawn mower quit last nite so the yard looks like a meadow.

They're gonna make an appt for tuesday nite. Gives me about 48 hrs to get this place spotless, inside and out. Hope it doesn't rain like it's supposed to tomorrow.

finally home. brodie was there to greet me, poor baby. he hasn't left my side since. even at in my lap and went to sleep. he does not do that. even snored, lol. timmy is his usual self. loud and insistent.

friggin raccoons had a field day. ate all the at food. even the stuff i had locked up. then dug up a plant leaving dirt all over the kitchen floor. even took some of the cat's dishes outside thru the cat door. what a mess.

now i have to go get cat food. they're gonna be traumatized all over again :(
